Another of the Willows' Showcase Special evenings, featuring two great local acts each performing a 40-minute set!
JO & GRAHAM together make up one of the Willows' most popular resident acts - both admired and loved for their solo floorspots at the club, in 2008 they teamed up to form a hugely popular and successful duo, showcasing beautiful vocal harmonies, great and varied material (everything from Kate Rusby to Don Williams to Buddy Holly and all points inbetween!) and engaging live performances!
WAY OUT WEST burst onto the local acoustic scene at the end of 2010 and quickly became one of the most popular acts around locally, bringing acoustic country music to a whole new audience! Since their formation the band have evolved into a full electric lineup featuring electric guitars and drums, but for this performance the band are going back to their roots, featuring acoustic guitars, mandolin, vocals, and a wealth of great country music!

Paul's sensitive yet fun approach to his live performances has seen him become one of the most respected artists on the British folk and acoustic music scene today - those who've seen Paul play justifiably regard him as one of the world's most skilled acoustic guitarists, blending effortless technical brilliance with sensitivity and feeling. However, despite his notable prowess as a guitarist, Paul considers himself to be primarily a singer of songs, drawing on both traditional and contemporary folk music to shape his unique sound. Over the years Paul has played with some of the world's best, including Pete Seeger and Show of Hands' Phil Beer, with whom Paul played regularly in and around Brighton back in the 1970s. The duo reunited in 2002 for a brief reunion tour that saw them pulling in capacity audiences to every venue they visited, including the Willows! Paul is also a founder member of The Joyce Gang, one of the most popular folk bands in the UK. A mesmerising performer!

Another bluegrass extravaganza at the Willows! A Band Like Alice are a great 5-piece band and since their formation in 1995 have built up a reputation in the UK and internationally as fine exponents of hard-driving, foot-tapping bluegrass, with airtight harmonies, dextrous banjo, fiddle and mandolin with rock-solid guitar and double bass. As well as presenting classic bluegrass material the band have also written several of their own songs and have brought this terrific, feel-good music to whole new audiences across the UK thanks to their appearances at a diverse selection of arts centres, clubs, and festivals. Don't miss your chance to experience this great band in concert!

Another of the Willows' Showcase Special evenings, featuring two great local acts each performing a 40-minute set!
RICK WILLINGS is an outstanding singer-guitarist who has been a great friend of the Willows' since the very beginning! Rick is best-known on the south coast for his work with successful bands Big Yellow Taxi (and the band's acoustic equivalent, Taxi Home) and also the legendary Pied Merlin. A great multi-instrumentalist and singer, this Showcase set offers a rare chance to see Rick performing solo!
STEVE WINCHESTER is a hugely successful local singer-songwriter, whose songwriting talent is matched only by his engaging and powerful live performances. A singer with a soulful, warm voice, backed up with a great guitar style, no one will want to miss a performance from this great local artist!

A fantastic young duo from South Devon, twins Laura & Charlotte Carrivick have been taking the bluegrass and folk worlds by storm with their superb songs, harmonies, and instrumental skills! Despite their relatively young ages, the Carrivicks are no strangers to the big stages of the acoustic music scene, having performed at dozens of festivals and other venues across the UK. The twins play a superb selection of material on a variety of instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and dobro, all underscoring their lovely vocal harmonies, with a unique blend of vocals that only two siblings can create! Laura & Charlotte have been performing together for a number of years, and since 2006 have released several CDs - the twins rose to national prominance when they were finalists in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards competition, and are co-founders of, and teachers at, the Bath Bluegrass School. With many venues and artists, including Ralph McTell, singing the Carrivicks' praises, this talented twosome are fast becoming one of the hottest acts in folk and bluegrass in the UK!

Back because you demanded it, we once again welcome this truly outstanding singer, guitarist and all-round entertainer to our stage! J.D. is an enchanting professional musician who's played in folk clubs on-and-off throughout his life - his easy, relaxed style, coupled with a wide and eclectic repertoire of songs from his long and successful career, have made him a firm favourite for many. Scottish by birth, J.D. performs folksongs from right across the board, both traditional and contemporary - Burns meets Buddy Holly and all points in-between! A smash hit at several of our Open Stage Nights in 2011, J.D. returns for a full evening at the Willows by popular demand!

One of the south coast's most popular Irish / Celtic bands, featuring an entertaining array of well-known chorus songs to set an audience singing and every foot in the room tapping! Performing songs such as "The Black Velvet Band", "The Galway Shawl", and other well-known favourites (and some rather more obscure songs and tunes thrown in for good measure), it's not difficult to see why the Village Band are so popular with audiences across Sussex and the south! Guitar, mandolin, whistles, flute, fiddle, bass and great vocals - whatever you do, don't miss them!
